Lawsuit - Alleged Rape - Madison Middle School

Read THIS!

I'm trying to remind myself that this isn't the whole story. I know this is just a piece of information, but it's infuriating just the same. I cannot comprehend someone using a child as bait to catch the bad guy in the act. It's our responsibility as parents, teachers, adults, HUMAN BEINGS to protect the innocent; not to dangle them in front of the predator. AH!

Photo Contest

I entered the fair's photo contest last year. This year, I kind of forgot about it until Esther reminded me the day before they needed to be turned in. I didn't have the time or money to spend on something extra, so I missed out this time. There's always next year:)

Here are some of the shots I thought about entering.

I LOVE this picture! Doesn't it make you wonder WHAT they're looking at? :)

Cody's check up

Yesterday was long, chilly, and wet. The alarm was set for 6:00, but because of Cassie absolute fear and hate of thunder, I was up before 5:00 and hadn't slept well before that. It stormed all morning, but thankfully the drive to Birmingham was uneventful. We waited an hour and a half to see the doctor for all of MAYBE 90 seconds. I know it was just a check up but I think he should have chatted with us for a little longer, dink around and have a cup of coffee with me or something.

Cody is doing great and he no longer has any activity restrictions. He's a free man! He wants to go swimming:) Next Monday, we go for his ENT check up. I'm anxious to see what the doctor says about that. The hole looks closed, but it's not completely healed.

Recap

Last week, was full of birthday goodies:) We celebrated with Elisa on Tuesday, at Heather's Wednesday, with Bobby on Thursday and with Dad over the weekend. Plus we celebrated my sister in law's birthday on Friday. Donna turned 50 so we decorated the house with tombstones and our skeleton sat in the chair watching the festivities. We got her a "Older than dirt" cake with black frosting. Everyone's mouths were tinted various shades of purple for the remainder of the day. Ah, good times.

Dad came up Saturday and we ate a fantastic meal and watched Alabama beat Arkansas. Man, that was a stressful game. Sunday, the subject of tarot cards came up and I remembered seeing Bobby's old deck in the garage when we had the yard sale. I've wanted to look at those things forever. I climbed into the attic to locate the box. I need to tell you how completely out of my element I am in the attic. It's like a creepy, foreign world up there. I couldn't find the box so I asked Bobby if he knew where they were hiding. He did. And they weren't in the attic. I could have saved myself from going into the hole in the ceiling. We spent the afternoon learning about the cards and how to read them. It was very interesting and I wouldn't mind having my own deck. Then we played football in the yard with some neighborhood kids for an hour and a half or so. I can still kick ass....that's all I'm sayin' about that. :)

Great Day With My Family :)

This morning, the kids and I worked on cleaning the house while Bobby cut the grass. He also worked on Brit's dresser. It was my grandmother's dresser, so it's old and things are falling apart.

Then we got cleaned up and headed to Huntsville. It was so nice to be out as a family. Bobby's been working. He surprised me with a birthday lunch at Olive Garden. I do like me some Olive Garden. Have you seen the commercials for the endless pasta bowls? Well, that's what I had...except the bowl was huge and my meal ended after one serving. It was SO good. I picked the penne pasta with the creamy parmesan portabella sauce. Holy cow! Fantastic! I really wanted to try the three meat sauce, but that will have to wait until next time.

After lunch, we went to Southerland Station. Cody has been asking to go for weeks. We just haven't been to H'ville in a while. He was SO happy when he realized which parking lot we were pulling into!

Then we went to Sam's. It's just fun just to walk around and look at everything and we hadn't been there in months. They have Christmas trees up!

HA! This picture cracks me up! Look at Brit's "I'll kill you in your sleep" eyes!

Brit got the coolest shirt for like $6. I'll get a picture of her in it tomorrow.

On the way home.
It was just another great day with my family. I love you guys:)

Happy Fall Y'all

To celebrate the first day of Fall, Heather invited everyone over for a swim party. I know...Fall and swimming aren't exactly two ideas that fit together, but with temperatures still in the high 90's, swimming sounds just fine.

Cody LOVES playing Little Big Planet. It's only for the PS3 and we don't have one, but Heather does:)

The Gamers

Look at this! Heather also wanted to celebrate my birthday. She is just the sweetest person! I tell you...I have the best friends in the world.

They say it's my birthday!

My sister in law took us out to eat for my birthday. I chose O'Charley's. We hadn't been there in like three years, so I figured it was time to give them another shot. Plus I had a coupon:)

The meal was fantastic! Brit and I both got their philly cheese steak...YUM! Cody ate his entire steak, so I'm going to say it must have been pretty tasty. And Elisa had this huge salad that looked amazing.

For my birthday dessert, I could have either a caramel pie, a brownie or doughnuts. I went with the caramel pie. It was delicious!

After we ate, we spent a couple hours at Books A Million. Brit still had gift cards from her birthday and I've been wanting to go look around for a while. We've been staying home a lot lately so we were all ready to get out for a while.

After that, we came home and talked and vegged out. Then Elisa went home, and the kids and I rode our bikes and played football until Bobby came home from work. Then we watched The Bounty Hunter. I love me some Gerard Butler ;)

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! I have the best friends in the whole world!

We LOVE the color! It looks amazing! She wants black curtains and needs a new bed, but those will have to wait for a while. I'm just glad we FINALLY finished painting her room:)

Bike Trail @ Pt. Mallard

Bobby had a class this morning, and got home right at 1:00. We talked and decided to load up the bikes and hit the trail at Pt. Mallard. I completely loved being there and exercising and having fun as a family. Well, it was fun until Brit took a curve too fast and wiped out.

I grabbed the wrong batteries, and they were nearly dead. I didn't take near as many pictures as I would have liked to. Oh well. It's probably not very safe biking and photographing the scenery at the same time:)

OUCH!

Thomas

Thomas is a complete snuggle bug. We tote him around and play with him a lot. We love him...but I could totally do without the claws. I just had to bathe my hand in Bactine because he went all psycho kitty after he took a nap and ate. Ouch!

Then I look through the pictures and find this...

and this.
Yeah...we love that furry butt.

Turkey

As most of you know, we do things a little differently at our house for Thanksgiving. For the last two...or three?...years we've made Asian food. It's delicious and I'm hoping we continue our new tradition. Dang it! Now I'm craving lumpia. Hmmm.....lumpia.

The thing is, Bobby's work sends home a turkey for Thanksgiving. So we've had a turkey in the freezer for a freakin' long time. Well, I roasted his little hiney tonight, and ended up with a lot of turkey meat. I'm looking for recipes. If you have a kick ass recipe using turkey meat, please send it my way.

Thanks!

Flint Creek Trail

We went to the Flint Creek Trail off 67 this afternoon. I needed to be outside and feel the sun. I really enjoyed walking through the woods and taking pictures. I do so love nature:)

HIYA!

Peace Out
