Wind Damage

This morning, a thunderstorm rolled through that contained some pretty hefty winds. When the siren went off, I got the kids in the hallway with lots of blankets and pillows. Cody fell back asleep in the hallway, so he obviously knew there was nothing to worry about:) The storm quickly passed and we went on with our lives.

This is what I found when I went to get the mail this afternoon. I guess the wind was stronger than I thought!

The BEST Homeschooling Picture Ever!!

Lakey's Ghost

Bobby has been researching his genealogy on and off for several years. Yesterday, he came across a family ghost story! Brit and Cody officially think we have the coolest family ever! Anyone up for a road trip to Illinois?

What's up dock?

Space Jam has become one of Cody's favorite movies, which is cool with me because Looney Tunes was one of my favorite cartoons. Brit and Cody were watching an episode of Heroes and Cody asked if there were any Twizzlers left. I found the bag and handed it to them and sat down at the computer to check my email. Cody said, "Hey Mommy." I looked over and he was propped against the doorframe with his legs crossed, Twizzler in hand. He took a bite and said, "What's up dock?" He then got tickled with his creativity and started laughing so hard he nearly fell on the floor:)

Mom Survey

I hijacked this from Lauren's blog...

  1. How old is your child/children? 10 and 8
  2. Girl(s) or Boy(s)? One of each flavor
  3. Bottle fed or breast fed? Bottle
  4. Are there more children in your future? No, two is just perfect for us.
  5. Do you stay at home with your kid(s)? I changed my answer after I read Heather's blog. At first I said YES, but honestly we're not home very much. We've made some truly awesome friends this year. Play time is definitely not in short supply around here! Whoever said homeschoolers are unsocialized had absolutely no idea what they were talking about!
  6. Bedtime (kids…not you!): They go to bed when they're tired.
  7. Where do your kids go to school/daycare? We learn wherever we go.
  8. Would you ever homeschool? Yes!! This is our first year homeschooling and we LOVE it!
  9. Do you like their school/daycare? Well, the world is a pretty awesome place.
  10. Is college important…will you insist that your child go? We support our childrens' decisions. If they want to go, we will do everything in our power to help them. If they don't, we will definitely not make them.
  11. Favorite time of the day: Every part of it! I feel so blessed to be able to spend all my time with Britney and Cody.
  12. Favorite food: Britney said pizza and Cody said fried okra, although that could change at any moment.
  13. Kid’s favorite happy meal: Britney's-Cheeseburger with no onions, extra extra extra pickles, and french fries dipped in barbecue sauce. Cody's-Chicken nuggets with french fries.
  14. Do you eat organic? No, but we are trying to eat healthier.
  15. Does your child have a security item? Not so much anymore, but it used to be my hair.
  16. Thumb sucker or Pacie Baby? Both were pacie babies. Cody sucked his thumb some, too.
  17. Any extra curricular activities? Play days, skate days, sleepovers, camping trips, hiking, geocaching, science experiments, field trips...
  18. Does your child have any nicknames? Brit Brit and Cody Man
  19. Do your children share a room or have their own? They each have their own room.
  20. Discipline: Time out or spank? Neither. If something needs to be addressed, we just talk about it.

Play Day @ Esther's

Esther invited us over for lunch on Thursday and we all had a blast! We talked about camping trips for the rest of the year:) Of course we won't be able to do all of them, but we want to!

Pictures

Cody is the only person I know that would ask for a plate, a lighter, his silly putty and his sparkle birthday candles at the same time. After I lit the candles, he sang Happy Birthday to himself.

~BUBBLES~

Britney spent most of Saturday with her friend Alexis. They went to Rhodes Ferry Park for a family fun day. It turns out that the "fun" was for little kids. So they ended up going to Chuck E Cheese....Shhh...DON'T tell Cody! :)~

Cody has been wanting to go to Hobby Lobby to get yellow silly putty. They didn't have yellow, so he bought himself glow in the dark. He also found a super magnet kit. Cody's a BIG fan of magnets! Last night, he put the horseshoe magnet around his neck, found his hat, put it on sideways and started dancing. Oh, my little thug.

The Little Things

It was absolutely beautiful today. The kids slept late trying to recover from mass quantities of play time with Jake, Chandler, and Ben. We skipped breakfast so by 11:30 their tummies were complaining. I started making sandwiches, and we decided to have a picnic in the backyard. Cody just wanted to make sure I brought the pickles with us. We can't forget pickles! Bobby got the table and chairs off the front porch, and Britney grabbed a table cloth. We started walking toward the back door and Cody was smiling and singing "It's the best day ever" from Spongebob. I can't tell you how that made me feel. It was awesome to see him so happy. It's definitely the little things that mean the most. A picnic is so simple to throw together, and we all had a blast. I sure do love my babies!

Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day, we went on a Wildflower Hike in Huntsville with Esther's Roamschool group. There's a creek that flows along the trail that looks like it would be full of crawdads. We can't wait to go back in the summer so we can't play in the water!

Duck egg

There were TONS of Inch Worms EVERYWHERE!!!
Cody also found a caterpillar

Best Friends

After the hike, we headed to the Maple Hill Cemetery playground for a picnic lunch.

Karen looks like she's ready for take off:)

Carson's Birthday

The kids and I had a blast at Carson's party. I thought Cody would be forever glued to the trampoline! He LOVED it!!! Britney was literally chased by a herd of boys. She was the only girl playing tag (and she outran all of them I might add:) But I think the best thing was the glow sticks. After it got dark, all the kids got a glow stick or bracelet. They had so much fun running around with their light sabers and seeing just how high they could throw. It was awesome!
Thanks Heather!

Cheaha State Park

We went camping at Cheaha State Park Tuesday through Thursday. Cheaha Mountain is the highest point in Alabama with and elevation of 2,407 feet. It's a beautiful park, with awesome views! Thanks for the invite Esther! We had so much fun!!!

Our campsite

Cody is the tallest person in Alabama!

Bobby said, "Look Cody. You were here on April 1st!" Cody
thought for a moment and said, "I don't remember that."

The view from Bald Rock is amazing.

Can you find the dragonfly?

Our last night, we went to The Lodge to have dessert.
Of course we ate fried pickles first:)
