Our Week

Bobby and I brought the boxes of Halloween decorations into the house and we've been getting into the 'spirit' of things. Mom also sent a couple boxes of Halloween goodies for the kids so we have lots to do. Here's our start...
We hung the pumpkin lights in the house yesterday. We have bat lights, black lights and a moving ghost for the front porch. Not to mention the various body parts, masks, costumes, remote control rat...lying around the house right now. It's just how it is when you have Halloween fanatics for kids:)

This is a freakishly large, GALLON jar of pickled okra that the kids have finished since coming home from my dad's house. What's it been? Like a week?!

We spent a couple days playing lots and lots of board games.

I was going through our music on the computer and started listening to "Hook" by Blues Traveler. I had forgotten how much I love that song. Okay, you know that REALLY fast part there in the middle? Britney and I now have it memorized and have been singing non-stop for three days! Awesome song about nothing...except the hook...

This brings a whole new meaning to "Monkey on my back"
Excuse the mess...Halloween boxes

Today, Bobby, Britney and I played many rounds of Boggle while Cody colored. LOVE Boggle! Then we played Triominos, and then we couldn't take it anymore. It was absolutely beautiful and we just had to get outside. We went to the Flint Creek Trail off Hwy 67. Bobby and Cody lead the way into the woods, and startled a pair of raccoons! Of course all I saw were fuzzy butts running away, and poor Britney didn't get to see any of it.

I HATE mosquitoes!

Some people were fishing and showed the kids their catch.

The clouds were SO cool. They looked like hand prints.

We stopped at Theron's for a bit. Here's Brit playing fetch with Patton.

I was going to cook some form of chicken for dinner, but Cody was STARVING by the time we were ready to go home. NO way was her waiting for me to cook.

BEWARE OF CARNIVORES

Bobby's fortune:)~

Britney has been wanting to dye her hair red for some time. When I say red...I mean RED. Fire engine red would make her the happiest kid ever, but unless I take her and have it done professionally, it's not gonna happen. We dyed it a couple months ago with a temporary color and she REALLY liked it, but it was temporary after all. She's been wanting it done again on a more permanent basis. She picked up some color last week and we dyed it tonight.

This is her "I just saw my hair for the first time" face

She LOVES it!! She made weird, girlish, squeals of delight while running through the house. I think that's a good sign.

I stole a little of the dye and used it on the very front of my hair. I only left it on for ten minutes so it's nowhere near as red as Brit's. But it's something different...and PERMANENT!

Brit's Guitar Lessons and Tango's First Outing

This post is about two weeks late... um, make that three weeks. Glad I'm on top of things!

We got to know The Johns family during Seussical. David, Gretta, and Abby were Britney's Who Family. They are the sweetest, most wonderful people. We've spent the last few months getting to know each other better through our blogs and Face Book. During one of our online conversations, Gretta mentioned that David plays the guitar. Well I happen to know a kid who got an electric guitar for her birthday:) David was nice enough to give Britney her first lesson.

We dropped the photos off at the fair, picked up Tango, and headed to their house.

Rockin' out

Gretta was a little iffy of this 'slimy' thing we've come to love. I think it's safe to say she changed her mind after she spent time with him.

"He's looking at me!"

David was hungry after playing the guitar:)
OM NOM NOM

Britney had her second lesson with David this past Sunday. She's having a blast, which of course means she's learning like crazy! Thanks again David and Gretta! You guys are the best!

Celebrating Birthdays

We spent a couple days with my Dad and Step-mom, Karen, to celebrate everyone's birthdays this past year. With work schedules, we've only been able to get together for Dad's birthday back in February. It was definitely time to party again!

We had a wonderful time! The weather was absolutely beautiful, we ate fantastic food, and drank Mongoritas. YUM!!! We played Sequence, which was A LOT of fun...although the boys beat the girls. I demand a rematch!

On our way to Hollywood

Animal Lover

I love animals. I love the furry kind, and I have a new found love of the scaly variety. My dad and step-mom have birds, so I like the feathered as well. I love the smell of a puppy's breath and paws, and horse smell is my favorite thing ever. Man, I could just breath in a horse for hours. I love watching animals and learning new things about them. For instance, have you ever seen a snake drink? It's pretty cool. It's almost like they're drinking from a straw.

However, there's one certain animal that I don't like very much. I suppose my dislike for them all started when I was around 13. You know, that tough tom boy I used to be? The one who was completely fearless, strong, and the least 'girly' thing you could imagine. Yep...that was me. And then one day, I walked outside barefoot. The washer and dryer were in a room on the back of our house. I had to walk down the stairs and around to the door. Anyway, when I went out the door, I stepped right on top of a slug. Slug snot shot out across the yard, and on my foot, and I screamed and did the GIRLIEST dance you have ever seen. AH...GROSS!!! So pretty much since then, I avoid the little buggers.

I would like to point out that before this happened, a friend of mine had a resident slug that would eat the cat's food everyday. We named him Rocky. Rocky Slug. He was a far superior slug and he shall be remembered.

I took the garbage out tonight. Yes, at midnight, that's what I choose to do with my time.

I walked outside, barefoot 'cause I'm a genius. Logan and Cassie were quite happy to have a late night visitor, so I played and petted and Logan fetched...good times...good times. I started back in the house, and looked down just in time to stop myself from stepping on the fattest slug the world has ever seen. Oh my! It's SLUGZILLA!!! So I did what any sane person would do. I went inside and got my camera.

I wish you could really see how big this guy actually is. He is HUGE! Like a fat, stubby sausage. YUCK...bad camparison.
His little brother.
"I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy..."
Sorry. I love Dory:)

Where we've been as a family
