Aveda

I didn't blog about Brit and Chan's first experience with Aveda, but Esther did :)  You can find that HERE!  They had an amazing experience.  Brit called me as soon as they had finished and I could tell she was still jumping up and down, most likely in the van as Esther was trying to drive away.

Chan, Brit and Jake have been asked to come back and model for an event tomorrow night. It's a fashion show where all of  the money raised will go to their Earth Month partners to help protect clean water.

We went to Birmingham on Thursday for fittings and Brit got her hair cut!  She's been wanting a faux hawk for months, but because of other modeling reasons, we haven't been able to get that done.  Anyway, those reasons don't seem to be holding up, so it was time to cut away :)  Esther wrote about Thursday HERE.  I didn't take any photos.

Brit absolutely LOVES her hair!  She has this whole new attitude and confidence.  Makes this momma happy!

I can't speak for Chan and Jake, but I know Brit is beyond excited about tomorrow.  I can't wait to see her all done up with make up and her costume and her rockin' new hair ON THE RUNWAY!  Eep!!

Color Run 2013!

The Color Run is known as 'The happiest 5k on the planet."  It made it's debut last year and has grown into a huge movement.  The purpose of the race is to celebrate healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back to the community.  In each city where a race is held, a local charity is chosen, money is raised and donated.  The event is not timed.  You can walk the whole darn thing if you want.  You can sign up individually or as a team as long as you have four members.  It's not about 'racing', it's about having fun!  As you reach each kilometer marker, you're doused is color!  At the finish line, it's a 'color festival' where they use even more colored powder to celebrate your victory.

I wanted to do this last year, but...didn't.  I'm not making the same mistake again.  I'm going for it!  It looks like SO much fun!  I posted something about it on FB last night and there seems to be some interest!

All we need now is a team name!  The race in Birmingham is on September 2nd, which gives us plenty of time to prepare.  Registration fees are the cheapest until April 1st so we need to get going on the team.  I'm SO geeked!!

The Rock & Worship Roadshow

The Rock & Worship Roadshow made its way to Huntsville again last night. Bobby had to work today so he stayed home with Cody, who didn't want to go. Brit and Emily were so pumped about this concert. They went together last year, which was Britney's first concert. We made plans for Emily to go with us so after she was dropped off, we picked up some friends and went to Epic to play follow the leader to the VBC.

A little pre-concert foodage.

We got separated from the pack and couldn't find our fellow Epicans once we got there. We ended up separating from the other adults who rode with us because the girls wanted to be closer. I embarrassed Lexy several times. I've been called 'old school'. That kid needs to lighten up :)

Me with Lexy

The place was packed! We were told that they had to turn 1500 people away and that Sidewalk Prophets went outside and sang a couple songs for them, which I found appropriate given their name.

Sidewalk Prophets

Hawk Nelson

I was pretty disappointed they didn't sing Hello, but forgave them quickly when they made eye contact and smiled at us while signing things.

Lacrae
I really liked them! Particularly THIS song.

Disciple

Tenth Avenue North

I didn't get a picture of Mercy Me. The girls wanted to go out to the lobby to be first in line to get Hawk Nelson's autographs. But we seriously jumped the gun and had lots of time to kill. So...ya know...you head bang, play air guitar and drums while you wait.

See? Pretty boys. Eye contact. Who could be mad at them?

Happy Emily!

Rend Collective Experience
This group is from Ireland. Love me an Irish man! I could listen to him speak all day...or until I got tired of him talking...
They were very chatty and nice
and happily posed for a group picture. They were the only ones who did.

We all had a blast and I can't wait to go again next year...preferably with my hubby. I know he would love it too!

Tie Dye Cupcakes

We decided to make tie dye cupcakes the other day and they were so much fun to make together!

The look on Cody's face cracks me up! Egg just feels gross.

Make sure you lick the bowl and beaters. I mean you have to check for adequate taste.

Separate batter into bowls and start mixing in food coloring until you get the shade you want. It takes a lot of red dye.

Add the different colors. You can slightly swirl the batter with a toothpick if you'd like.

TA DA!

Good stuff!

NOT Back to School Party

We had the best day!

Katy invited us over for a NOT back to school party.

We picked Karen and Keilee up on our way out of town and headed to Huntsville. It was very cloudy and stormy looking here, so I didn't much think we would get to swim. Wouldn't you know it was sunny and beautiful when we got there? :)

I LOVE this picture of Keilee!

The view off Monte Sano.

After swimming, we loaded up and went to Katy's house, which is absolutely amazing! It's perfect for playing, being creative and using your imagination and in the backyard there's a tire swing, trampoline, and the coolest, most awesome tree house!

And of course, food:)

Chan and Brit

Brit had some issues with the hammock...

Zachary said "Take my picture Ms Gina!"

All of the kids played together constantly. They all had so much fun!

Katy's youngest daughter, Inde said that she wanted a chicken, so what did Katy do? She brought that baby a chicken! I do so like Katy.
It is such a fluffy, tame thing. Cody wanted to hold it, so he carefully grabbed it and it immediately climbed up his arm and perched on his shoulder.
We all thought it was quite funny and started laughing - Cody and his pirate chicken - but then out of nowhere, just seconds after that picture was taken, the chicken looked at Cody and PECKED HIS EYE! His eye got teary and a little red, but after 10 minutes or so, he seemed fine. I had a mini heart attack. ACK!

Off to play in the tree house.

Cody and Inde chasing each other just like they did at Burchfield Branch.

Kid group shot!

Katy and Esther set their cameras up to get a whole group shot.
10 seconds...
Run!

Britney is spending the night with Keilee, Bobby, Cody and I watched the new Phineas and Ferb movie and now I'm off to bed. This has been an amazing day!
