Crafty

I've been wanting to get more art on the walls.  Things that we've done...not the store bought kind.  We have some prints that we got right after we bought the house.  I've been trying to get rid of them.  I tried selling them online.  I put them in the yard sale.  Nobody wants these suckers!  I decided to hang onto them instead of taking them to donate.  I was looking at one last night and decided to get creative.

I turned this:

 into this:

with Henry David Thoreau's quote "All good things are wild and free" as my inspiration.  I'm not sure that it's finished but I like it the way it is...with it's imperfections.  We have two more pieces to work on and I really hope the kids  help with them.  (They both want to.  It's just a matter of them being home long enough!  It's summer, baby!)  Bobby too if he can.  I'm thinking hand prints will be incorporated in some way :)

Finished for the day

I have painted until I don't wanna paint anymore...today :)

I've gotten the second coat on most everything.  I still need to do some touch ups, but overall I could not be happier with how it looks!  I decided to paint to curved section of the wall/ceiling blue and I will paint the ceiling white.  It really does need to be freshened up.

Yay!!  I'm so happy!

What I've been doing today!

I'm one of the world's worst to have great ideas and then never follow through with them.  I'm trying to be better about that!  I'm very happy to say that we are continuing with our plans to revamp the camper :)

Here are the pillows I made a couple weeks ago.  We picked up the fabric at Walmart before I had the paint bought.  I just fell in love with both fabrics and am very happy with how the pillows turned out.

We went to Lowe's in hopes of finding an 'OOPS' paint that we liked and they had a gallon that fit our desires perfectly!  Seriously, if I had picked out a paint, it would be this exact color.  I love it!

 Prep work
(Sorry...bad photos)

We had a left over gallon of white ceiling paint in the garage so I used that as a primer and painted over the wood and piece of paneling that dad used to fix the camper up after the tree fell on it.

And what I've done today!
See?!  LOVE this blue!

I've gotten two coats on the areas I got to today.  I haven't decided yet if I'm going to paint the ceiling.

Anyway, it's progress!  :)

I also had another pretty great idea last night!  More on that later!

More Happenings

We went out to Esther's on Tuesday. While they were at our house for Filipino goodness, we had talked about us getting together during the week. We went to their house and after Matt got home from work, we drove to Cullman to get something to eat and went back to their house and watched The Adjustment Bureau. We brought Chan home with us and she spent a couple days. Those kids had so much fun playing and drawing and laughing. We had bad weather Wednesday night, and lost power for a couple hours. It was so hot in the house. We also had a big branch fall out of the tree next to the house and land right outside our bedroom window. It damaged a couple shingles, but I don't think it's anything major. There are limbs and trees down all over town.

Our confirmation letter from DaySpring came in the mail on Wednesday. Not bad considering I sent the paperwork off on Friday :)

My Grandfather's birthday is this month. On the 28th, he will be 88 years old. He's not doing well and has been in the hospital for about a week...this time. Thursday, he had a very bad night. He became violent, pulled his IV out and was talking about things that happened when he was a much younger man like they had just happened. He was very anemic and has needed 4 units of blood. (Not all at once...over the course of the week) The doctors have told Max (my brother) that he wouldn't make it through the weekend. The kids, mom and I went to visit with him yesterday. The change in him since we saw him last on Father's Day was shocking. He looked so much worse than what I had prepared myself for. In fact, mom had gone down to see him on Wednesday and she said he looked a lot worse in just those two days. He seemed kind of out of it when we first got there, but by the time we left, he was sitting up and eating his lunch. He asked about Bobby which showed me that at least his mind was present for the moment.

He had a good night last night and has had a good day today. He seems better from what Max said.

Today has been kind of blah for me. I didn't sleep well again last night and then this morning I woke up at 4:10 wide awake and panicked. I checked my phone, email and FaceBook expecting to hear or see bad news. So all day I have felt puny. I'm cold even though it's clearly not cool in the house.

I've been washing clothes and cleaning my room...which is the room where all hope is lost. It's a catch all room. Everything gets thrown in there. It's a disaster. Well, it's less of a disaster now.

I made hot tea and pulled the paints out after Cody got a bath. I didn't want to paint on paper, so I looked around for something bare and needing creativity spread on it. I decided to yank pictures out of their plane wooden frames. We each did one. Each frame looks different. I love them! Then they moved onto card stock. I need to buy some canvases. Now Cody is sitting next to me reading a book and Brit's still in the kitchen painting.

Happy Easter

We had planned on going to church with Karen and Keilee this morning, but due to some...personal reasons, I opted to stay home. I made the right decision. Ugh.

Cody making a Yoshi egg.

The eggs have eyes!

I made a huge meal...ham, green beans, stuffing, deviled eggs, fried potatoes, rolls and pineapple pie for dessert. SO FULL!

After dinner, I hid plastic eggs in the backyard. This was more for Cody. He was quite excited about an Easter egg hunt. However, once Brit found out some of the eggs had money in them, she was all about it:) She's saving up for her trip to Europe after all. Every dollar helps.

Tonight, Britney sketched an awesome picture of an owl while Cody and I played part of a game of Clue. Then I hid glow in the dark and Light's Out eggs in the front yard. It was fun to go outside with the flashlights and search for the eggs. The glow in the dark eggs weren't very...glowy but Brit and Cody had fun.

Then we watched Whose Line Is It Anyway on youtube. It was an episode they watched the other night while I slept. OMGosh...SO funny! One name...Richard Simmons. LOL...

Then they had hot chocolate. Now we're watching Phineas and Ferb, but I believe another episode of Fruits Basket will be on soon.

Great day:)

Where we've been as a family
