This has been a very slow week. Bobby had to work every single day. No one has felt very well, and Dakota now has a full blown sinus infection. I took him to the doctor on Thursday morning and they didn't call in his meds until Friday morning. Pretty pissed off, I was! At any rate, he's using his nebulizer twice a day, along with a dose of antibiotic twice a day. They called in a Rx for these Prednisone dissolving pills that they didn't tell me about beforehand. I called in to the office to ask about it...mostly confused by the steroids via Albuterol AND Prednisone. They called back WHILE I was on the phone with Bobby and my cell phone didn't even register it as a missed call. I just magically had a voice mail. Damn phone. On the voice mail, the nurse explained a bit and then said "Call us back if you need us or have any other questions. We're closed now and won't be open again until Monday morning." That's helpful...
Bobby has had a headache, and because of working all week is pretty drained. Brit and I aren't 'sick' just don't feel well. Stuffy heads and sore necks and joints. Meh. Plus, the added bonus of cramping...even though my period hasn't started yet. I have got to go back to the doctor and discuss my surgery options again.
Other than a couple quick trips to the store to replenish juice and chicken noodle soup, and some bills that needed to be paid, I've been home. I did look at curtains while I was in Walmart. I know what I want in there long term. I want some beautiful batik fabric. Something like THIS or THIS but we have a camping trip coming up and we needed to get something up now. I saw THESE curtains at Walmart and thought they might work. I sent Bobby the link so he could help me decide and he surprisingly liked them a lot. I bought two panels at $9 each. Each one measures 40 x 84 so I cut those bad boys into thirds, sewed up the ends and new pockets for the curtain rods and viola! Two panels was perfect to cover the three windows in the camper bedroom.
Definitely not what I want long term, but it was a good option for right this minute. Plus, it was a $20 fix. Last night, I FINALLY started getting excited about the camping trip. We have a lot to do, but Dakota is sleeping and on the mend, I'm feeling a little better today, Bobby's home, Brit is made of awesome, and we have good coffee and today is just looking better. So...there :)

The Camper
The bedroom in the camper is finished other than curtains. I still have to either find fabric and make some or a good deal at the thrift store. I painted the ceiling white, and Bobby and I added a new piece of white stripping to cover the line between the curved wall and ceiling. It really looks great! I did buy a shower curtain to use as the privacy/divider curtain for the room. The railing is up for that but we don't have the hooks. Bobby bought some from the local RV place but they don't fit so I don't have a picture of it yet.

Finished for the day
I have painted until I don't wanna paint anymore...today :)
I've gotten the second coat on most everything. I still need to do some touch ups, but overall I could not be happier with how it looks! I decided to paint to curved section of the wall/ceiling blue and I will paint the ceiling white. It really does need to be freshened up.

Yay!! I'm so happy!
What I've been doing today!
I'm one of the world's worst to have great ideas and then never follow through with them. I'm trying to be better about that! I'm very happy to say that we are continuing with our plans to revamp the camper :)
Here are the pillows I made a couple weeks ago. We picked up the fabric at Walmart before I had the paint bought. I just fell in love with both fabrics and am very happy with how the pillows turned out.
We went to Lowe's in hopes of finding an 'OOPS' paint that we liked and they had a gallon that fit our desires perfectly! Seriously, if I had picked out a paint, it would be this exact color. I love it!
We had a left over gallon of white ceiling paint in the garage so I used that as a primer and painted over the wood and piece of paneling that dad used to fix the camper up after the tree fell on it.
I've gotten two coats on the areas I got to today. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to paint the ceiling.

And what I've done today!
See?! LOVE this blue!

Anyway, it's progress! :)
I also had another pretty great idea last night! More on that later!

Epic, the camper and softball
Bobby and I have talked about it several times, and have decided that Epic just isn't for us anymore. We haven't felt like we belong there for over 6 months. I could go into detail about the why but it really doesn't matter. I have offered many times to take Brit up there and she hasn't seemed that interested either. She said "I kind of like it once I'm there, but I'm doing much to try and get there." If Brit or Dakota still want to attend, we have no problem with that at all. I feel like this is a very personal decision and those two are more than capable of making it for themselves.
However, I will rant about this a bit. The camper. When we first started going there, the pastor sent out an email asking if anyone had a camper they could borrow for baptism. There's not a good place in the building for wet people to change so they decided to set up two campers. We volunteered ours and they have requested it for every baptism since. They have Baptism Sunday every three months. After the first time, the camper came home without our rugs. We told them they were missing and they said they would look for them. Nothing. Three months went by, and they requested the camper again. We once again reminded them about the rugs. They used the camper. Nothing. Finally after a bit of nagging, we were given smaller, thinner, crappy rugs to replace the ones that were taken...6 months earlier. Like I said, they have continued to use the camper every three months for 2 years. This last time, the camper came home with a broken door latch and window latch. I can understand no one noticing the window latch, but the door? Whoever locked the darn thing HAD to see that the door handle was broken. They didn't say a word to us about it. No offer to replace what was broken. Obviously we're both pretty ticked off about it and have decided they will not be using the camper anymore.
Since we are no longer attending Epic, I decided not to play softball for them. I know...I was SO freakin' excited about playing softball again, but I can't play for a church I don't attend and won't attend just to be on the team. It's wrong. So I sent a message to Amy stating such things and didn't and most likely won't get a response. Also, the FIRST practice is going to be on Monday the 8th. The FIRST GAME is one week later on the 15th. So...yeah...

The Camper
This last week has been busy and pretty darn awesome!
First off...the camper. This could be a long explanation, but stay with me. My parents divorced when I was 8. Up until that time, I had things in my room that I liked of course, but my Dad's house is a log cabin. The walls and ceilings are wood so I didn't have a lot of color surrounding me. After they divorced, my mother, brother and I lived in a couple different apartment complexes in different cities. White walls. Then to houses we rented. White walls and bad wallpaper. Nothing was 'ours' to paint or make our own. Our vehicles were always changing due to certain financial reasons so they didn't feel like 'ours' either. After Bobby and I got married, we lived in an apartment and then in a rental house, both with white walls and no personality. Even our vehicles have consistently changed, mostly from us wanting something different or needing something bigger. (Not because of the financial reasons of my childhood) I've grown up constantly moving and feeling like nothing is stable.
In October, we will have been living in this house for 10 years. 10 whole years and the majority of the walls in this house are still that God awful cream color, there's not much art or photos on the walls, the majority of what we have bought for the house is completely boring and neutral in coloring. I did decorate the kitchen, but it looks like it belongs in someone else's house. It's not 'us' at all. When I painted our bedroom, I painted it...beige. I tried to make it look like what other people would consider nice, not make it home for us. I have never in my life put a bumper sticker on a vehicle or decals on the window. We've had the camper for YEARS and haven't done a thing to it. It's still the same factory walls and curtains.
I've found some blogs that I like and after clicking and clicking, one website/blog post leading me to another, I found THIS post. All I see is individuality and COLOR and happiness. A lot of things happened after looking at these pictures. I realized that I've never felt like my living conditions or belongings are actually mine. I realized I've never felt in control of situations and I clearly have abandonment issues. It's like I'm still waiting to move. I haven't put anything on The Beast because my brain thinks "WHEN we try to sell it..." It's been engrained in me. It's not if we move, it's when. Even my clothes are designed to blend in.
The kids' bedrooms are theirs though. They have had free range in there.
So, I emailed the first picture to Bobby at work and told him I wanted to do something like it. All he said was basically Yeah, I'm surprised you didn't want to do things sooner.
Needless to say, Operation Camper Revamp is underway! We're going to paint the walls WHATEVER THE HELL COLOR WE WANT! We bought a couple yards of fabric and I've already made two throw pillows. (I also made myself a new bandana out of one of the fabrics because I like it so much!) I started spackling and getting the walls ready to paint. Bobby fixed the door and window after them being broken at Epic while they borrowed it for baptisms. That's a whole other post! I started taking the HIDEOUS blinds and shades down. We bought a gallon of paint that is this awesome blue that the kids loved and some railing to make a bookshelf. At any rate, we're ready to start individualizing our surroundings :)
SUPER EXCITED!!!

Camper
The camper is swept out and dusted. The windows have been cleaned. There are no leaks. It's stocked with sheets, dishes, sand toys and towels. It makes me hopeful that sooner rather than later we will be off exploring and learning new things. I can't wait to make s'mores at our campsite with our friends. The fire is always at the Lackey campsite. That might have something to do with Bobby and his ability to create fire...even if it's raining outside.
I'm happy the sun is shining today.
